I want you to feel comfortable asking questions. Let me walk you through where to find help, what I could do as a trustee, and how you can take part.

FINDING THE RIGHT STARTING POINT

I’d start by listening.

I’d ask a few questions to understand the situation. Then I’d help you find the right place to begin.

I’d start close to the concern.

For an individual concern, the district’s first step is a conversation with the person involved. If it remains unresolved, the next step is the principal.

I’d want to understand what happened, what has already been tried, and what help is needed.

I’d be one of seven trustees.

I would take part in decisions with the other trustees. Together, the board sets district priorities and approves budgets. I couldn’t make board decisions or direct staff on my own.
